How to Use a French Press the Right Way

Many people think French Press coffee is just pouring hot water and pressing.
That’s why they often get bitter coffee.

The secret lies in ratio, timing and grind size.

Step 1 — Choose the Right Grind

Always use coarse ground coffee. Fine powder blocks filter and creates muddy taste.

Step 2 — Coffee to Water Ratio

Use 1:15 ratio
Example: 20g coffee → 300 ml water

Step 3 — Blooming (Most Important Step)

Pour a little hot water first and wait 30 seconds.
This releases trapped gases and improves flavor.

Step 4 — Add Remaining Water

Pour slowly and stir gently once.

Step 5 — Wait 3–4 Minutes

Do not rush. Extraction happens during waiting, not pressing.

Step 6 — Press Slowly

Press gently. Fast pressing causes bitterness.

Step 7 — Serve Immediately

Leaving coffee inside makes it over-extract.

Perfect French Press coffee should taste smooth, rich and balanced — never harsh.
