FAQs

How to use LA’FORTE Copper utensils ?

Copper takes usually 6-8 hours so you should put water overnight and drink this water as first thing in the morning.

When you store water in a copper bottle overnight, copper ions dissolve in that water in small amounts. This process is called the Oligodynamic Effect as this water now has the potency to kill harmful microbes, fungi and bacteria.

The reaction is

2Cu+H2O+CO2+O2 ⟶Cu(OH)2+CuCO3

Which all beverages can be put in the LA’FORTE Copper Utensil?

It is recommended to use Only water, that too at the room temperature if you want complete benefits of copper.

Putting anything else like Carbonated Drinks, Lemon, Milk etc is not advisable- they contain different types of acids (Lactic acid in milk, carbonic acid in aerated drinks, Citric acid in lemon and so on) These acids may react negatively with copper and so are not recommended

Traditional methods of cleaning copper bottle is by rubbing the copper with a mixture of salt and Lemon or tamarind (Imlee) paste. You can also use baking soda and vinegar to clean it. Scrub the surface with the paste of your choice and rinse with water, for better results Allow the paste to stand in bottle overnight or at least 8 hours for best effects. Rinse in the morning.

Do the LA’FORTE Copper bottle/Flask have double wall and insulated?

No, though the coating on the outer side of the bottle and other products is given to enhance the look of the product, reduce the maintenance (Regular cleaning, decaying, Oxidation etc) and keep the temperature slightly controlled but LA’FORTE Copper utensils are not insulated.

The reason behind this is very simple –

A copper bottle doesn’t need an insulation, Insulation is required to keep content hot or cold but water in copper water bottle is advisable to be consumed on room temperature for better and positive effects, making a copper utensil insulated is not logical

As per the WHO guidelines 2mg Cu/Litre is completely safe, Hot water will cause the bottle to corrode and may cause too much copper to leach into the liquid inside. Link here Page 364

So not recommended to put hot water in copper bottle.

Copper bottle hasn’t changed colour on the inside yet, does this mean it has mixing or the copper is not pure?

Not necessarily, if the water quality used in bottle is good with neutral pH (pH is a measure of how acidic/basic water is) and the lid of bottle is sealed properly, so that not much interaction with oxygen is happening, the oxidation process happens slowly. Which results in delay in changing color of the bottle

Alternatively Try putting hard water (Tap/ non filtered) in utensil and leave the lid off you will find proof of oxidation process.
